QNAP Plugin Download location?

Heya folks:
New to Madsonic, but I've been using Subsonic for years. I recently bought my first NAS, a QNAP TS-421, and found Madsonic. So far everything's been going great, but recently received a notice that the newest version of Madsonic is available (ver 5.0.3830). QNAP's App Center shows the same version from 2013-Dec-16, obviously there's newer versions In the Downloads section. My question is, which version of the installer should I be using for the QNAP device? I'm guessing the WAR only, but I'm pretty new to NAS environments and have no clue what this thing is running on. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

hi there,

in general its enough to stop the madsonic service and replace two files madsonic.war & madsonic-booter.jar.

I'am also planing a dedicated plugin version for QNAP, I'm already talking to a QNAP employee.

Best regards

Hey Madevil,

I'v got an own qpkg running on my QNAP. Its pretty basic and it would be awesome if there would be an "official" solution (next to the own available in the appstore and my homebrew one).

If you need someone to test your version, let me knwo. Got a QNAP TS-470Pro (x86) and it would be my pleasure to help!

Cheers

I installed everything manually on my Qnap TS1079 Pro (Multimedia functions disabled), because the qpkg does not work. But this is really easy.

Functions i had no time until n ow:
- Create QPKG entry for start/stop
-> PID file

- Autorun Madsonic on boot (should be easy)

Where do you get the madsonic-booter.jar? I don't see it the downloads section. Need to install on a QNAP 569L.

Thanks.

Hi guys,

Did you score to find a time to compile dedicated qpkg file for x86 series?
I appreciate if you'll share within community.

Thx in advance.

aaah ppl, c'mon ...
the other guys are in fact able to install this nice piece of software, but they have to manually switch packets on new releases as well ...
so, whats the point ?
working with putty and being able handling the bash is an unspoken basic "must-have" : )

May be I searched some wrong location but I was able to find sources only. And I don't like to install damned virtual Ubuntu machine to my PC to 'make install', etc.
Thus I asked for package.

you do not need the source ... just get the standalone package

no need for apache, no need for tomcat.

just throw it in some place you have rights to.
and start it ...

there is an start stop script aswell out there ...

Okay, i found ready packages following a new server link.

I overwrite *war and *jar in NAS directory /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/Madsonic/Madsonic and chmod to 755.
After i run i unable to open a settings page and got tons of error 'system is unable to save settings .....'

What was wrong with overwriting? I didn't touch any other file.

I can't tell anything if i do not know whats been happening
- no errors before
- I have stopped madsonic service
- I did overwrite two files madsonic.war and madsonic-booter.jar
- executed chmod 755 for both files
- started service
- found after some minutes over 100+ messages which starting from phrase "system is unable to save ..." for many many different files.
- I try to open madsonic page with no success

After I stopped Madsonic and removed it from qkpg, rebooted NAS, everything is okay.

Error message from syslog:

"The system is unable to save your settings (file = [/tmp/wireless_status] section = [], field = [status], value = []) due to insufficient ramdisk space. If restarting the server doesn't solve the problem please contact support for further assistance."

The files were from any part of system: from /etc/.. /var/... directories, all the messages were about insufficient ramdisk space. Reboot doens't resolve the problem.

UPD: i compared two madsonic.war files (original from qpkg and from 5.2 beta package), the newest has a doubled size comparing to old one. So, looks like it is really ramdisk (virtual disk for qkpg applications) size problem. Any idea how it can be resolved?

ouch .
i guess this is an QNAP issue.
I am very sorry since i only have multiple virtualmachines stored on a dedicated HP tower server ...

You might consider the mights QNAP community - just in case nobody else is familiar with QNAP.

regarding to google there are many topics handling your errormsg.

thx for attempt :)

The only thing what google search has been resulted was the general idea NAS prevents qpkg'es to write to /share/ folder.
I will try all hints i'was able to find and report you.

I ran in the same problem. The only thing to solve the ramdisc problem was to remove the madsconix qpkg. Do you have any idea how to update the madsonic version on qnap?

Hi threre,

For a long time i want to create a native Setup for QNAP Stations, but for that I need a development system directly on a QNAP.
I haven't found a virtual QNAP appliance to do this. Therefore, it will take a while until I can buy a QNAP Station to build a dedicated QNAP setup.

PS: Sorry, i am not the maintainer of this QNAP setup package!

Best regards
