Migrating to a new server

Unread post by graewulf »

Ok, I have a kind of weird situation. I need to move from a linux server (Ubuntu) to a windows server (not my choice but the new server was free). The software install is easy. The area where I am getting lost is how to move the database from one server to the other. I would rather not have to set up all my users and such again if I don't have to. Any advice is appreciated.

hi there,

maybe this FAQ help to transfer your old user to a new database. -> http://forum.madsonic.org/viewtopic.php ... 1&p=34#p34

you'll get problems with media paths, if you want to migrate to whole database, because Linux & Windows have completely different path specifics ( m:\media\ vs. /var/media)

but a simple user migration should work!

best regards

Thanks. I'll give it a shot. I know I'll need to rescan the library after the move. It was the users that I was concerned with anyway.
