I just updated to the new client today. I selected the internal video player, but Madsonic is still launching Firefox to play the WMV videos I have on my server. I even disabled the transcoding for the WMV files to no avail. Is there something I'm missing?

If you select the internal player so you will be redirected to your server webpage -> Flash as default or to the HTML5 server version.
Then you have to check your transcoder settings: Normal -> Flash -> Transcode to flv -> transcode on, or
HTML5 -> transcode to webm -> transcode on

If you select the external player the client search for apps on your phone that can handle streamed content (MX Player, VLC, ...)

best regards

Thank you for clarifying that for me. I just disabled the transcoding for wmv files and enabled the external player for videos. Now my videos play in VPlayer on my Nexus 7.

with the next build i want to merge this 2 versions, then you can select the defaultplayer via settingsoption,
if you want Flash or HTML5 videoplayer in the webinterface and REST API.

BTW, what's the difference with the "fullscreen" version of the themes? I'm probably being stupid, but I can't tell the difference between "Madsonic Dark" and "Madsonic Dark Fullscreen".

this make only sense on phones ... in fullscreen-mode the top android bar is hidden,
on tablets the bar is allways on.

in this example you see the android bar

When you are closing in on the 1 GB storage limit, the client starts to delete the new files you download. Lets say I queue 2 x 200 MB files, after it´s downloaded it cuts the files down to around 20 MB instead of clearing the files I listened to earlier.
I have to manually go into the madsonic dir and delete the files atm.

I am just posting this here to say thank you, thank you, thank you.

I have been messing with various combined configurations of Subsonic (every transcode string I could think of), SS android clients (DSub and Ultrasonic, most notably), and Android media players (MX Player finally delivering the goods), so that I can access anything, anywhere, without issue.

The problem I ran into is that, in order to get all my videos to work, particularly on a 3G connection, the only app that MX seemed to like the stream from was Ultrasonic. Okay, fine, but, Ultrasonic's UI strives to be so far removed from the others, that it flat out loses functionality. DSub, although extremely functional and polished, cannot put video streams in a for that MX universally accepts, no matter what I do.

Moving to Madsonic, with its native HTML5 support, was an easy choice. Then, realizing that Madsonic has feature that other Android clients simply cannot access, it became clear that the best way to show my thanks (and get unparalleled functionality) was to snag the paid app.

Mad, you took a six month quest for full Subsonic functionality, and presented me with a solution that took mere minutes.

Upgrading my server to the latest Madsonic beta (5.0.3490.beta2), installing the latest Madsonic Android app(5.2) from the Google Play store, enabling HTML5 in the server, and restarting the phone did the trick.
