On my DS412+, running DSM 4.3, flac files won't transcode.

EDIT - Updated to latest DSM release. Problem remains. Can anyone help? :)

After a few days using Madsonic 5.0 on my Syno DS112 runing on DSM 5.0.
- better use last java SE ver 8 : better disk & RAM usage.
- transcoding works well
- i found that tag reading is worse than subsonic : some of my albums have no tags at all.
- nice interface, smooth and slick!!

Thanks Mad for releasing it and i'm looking for 5.1 update!

Do you have some special setup for making transcoding work? Apart from installing Serviio.

No just copy the ffmpeg binary from serviio folder, chmod 655 and usual command line in Madsonic transcoding options. I only use Madsonic for audio files.

Recently I met a strange case during install.. (but now fixed it somehow)

Regarding the restore option, I chose 'no' but the installation UI showed me 'there's no Madsonic dir at your public folder' ... again and again.
So I extracted the spk manually and removed the directory checking script from installer.sh, installed successfully and it works. I think somebody may want this information,, so am reporting this.

FYI, I am using DS214Play with DSM 5.0-4458 Update 1.

Oh, had this too.
I worked around it by putting an empty "Madsonic" folder where it wanted to find it and then install proceeded normally.

Just wanted to stop in and say that this package installs wonderfully. Perl, JAvaSE Embedded 8, and Serviio all went without any hitches.

I am not sure why Serviio is needed, but if it is needed can I "stop" it? Or what is it?

Also now I have a new question. When I was running the Windows version of this, The Madsonic Control Panel, had a Context area where I could change the path, and even the Port Number if I wanted to.

Where are these settings in Madsonic now?

EDIT: there's also something funny with adding new users; I eventually got it to work, but it was not like I expected it to work.

Hi there,

Serviio is only needed for the ffmpeg version. With newer versions of the Madsonic plugin, there will be no more dependency on this package (ffmpeg).
I will rework the setup, that you can easily change the port.

best regards

Sorry for delay but reinstalled NAS for some reason.

So here are my last Log File Line:
[19.06.14 21:03] DEBUG TranscodeInputStream Starting transcoder: [/usr/syno/synoman/webman/3rdparty/Madsonic/transcode/ffmpeg] [-i] [/volume1/Musik/Various - 2014 - WOW Hits 2014 [Deluxe Edition]/Various - WOW Hits 2014 [Deluxe Edition] CD1 - 01 - Whom Shall I Fear (Chris Tomlin).mp3] [-ab] [32k] [-v] [0] [-f] [mp3] [-]

Nothing else. Musik doesn't play.
ffmpeg is here with 777 rights:
cd /usr/syno/synoman/webman/3rdparty/Madsonic/transcode
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 143312 Jun 19 21:58 ffmpeg

I have a DS213j NAS

Hello guys, I'm quite a newbie, so I would like to learn more about the previous step...
I get an SSH client, I'm logged in, I entered this line : <ln -s /var/packages/Serviio/target/bin/ffmpeg /var/packages/Subsonic/transcode/ffmpeg> that I found on eg-blog, but the console says that there is no such directory. I'm on DSM 5.0...
Any idea ?
(Plus, up, for HolgerWill =o )

Thanks.

Edit : Ok, looks like directory are not correct in that line. I managed to find the correct ones using WinSCP (I'm sure this is basics...).
Now I just have the same problem as HolgerWill ! So, up =/

First, thanks for this fork of Subsonic. I recently dumped my homeserver for a Synology NAS, before that I was using Music Cabinet but this is a great replacement.

I'm just having a few issues with Last.fm pulling in, which kind of sucks because I liked being able to play top tracks by artist:

Exception net.sourceforge.subsonic.lastfm.CallException
Message Caching/Reloading failed
Java version Oracle Corporation 1.7.0_60
Operating system Linux 3.2.40
Server jetty/8.y.z-SNAPSHOT
Memory Used 103 of 162 MB

According to a post I found on the forums, it should be fixed in 5.1, but for now does anyone know of a work-around for now until 5.1 comes to Synology?
