I would also like to know this. I am always running the latest beta build on my server. Me and my several users only use Madsonic Android clients or the Web UI to play music.
The problem that I have with purchasing a Madsonic Premium subscription are as follows:
1.) I don't need the majority of the Premium features.
Your personal server address: yourname.madsonic.org - Don't use. I have my own Domain name/static IP.
Sonos support - Do not own or use Sonos
UPnP/DLNA support - Don't use. I only use Android mobile client and Madsonic Web GUI
ChromeCast support - I don't own Chromecast
LDAP authentication - Not using on a domain so I don't need LDAP as I don't have local users
advanced LDAP management * - I don't use LDAP
advanced Podcast features - ???? What are these?
audio conversation service - Not sure what this is
video conversation service - Not sure what this is
new chart / bestof feature *
Madsonic FollowMe /FollowYou * - I don't use the social aspect
universal tag-system / taste profiles *
new webservices (Musicbrainz, IMDB, ..) *
advanced service integration (Last.FM, Echonest) *
social logon support (Facebook, Google, own registration engine) * - I personsally won't use
advanced video support hls/dash streaming *
media reorganisation (checkIn system) *
new responsive mini-interface *
Dreambox Integration * - Do not own or use
HDRUN Integration * - Do not own or use
2.) I do not wish to pay a monthly subscription fee to access media I am hosting myself, especially when I don't need the "Personal server address feature" in Premium.
3.) I purchased the Madsonic Android client which no longer works due to license expiration on the server.
I would be happy to make a one time donation as I do believe you should be compensated for your work.
I would like to make the following suggestion:
Do not require a Madsonic Premium license for Mobile client access. There are plenty of other additional features in Premium that would be useful to many users, and worth the cost of Premium. If you still want to block access for mobile clients in the free version, what about adding a check in to allow access from the Madsonic Mobile client only (block other mobile clients in the free version, like UltraSonic, etc.).
I just do not like the fact that the Madsonic Android client is a paid app, but if you don't have premium Madsonic the app ceases to function. Again, thanks for all of your hard work on the project, but if staying beta/bleeding edge is not an option, I don't personally have a reason to stay with Madsonic, as I have a legacy Subsonic license, and a monthly Madsonic subscription just doesn't make sense for me.
