(Linux) no playback when running as user

Unread post by sIRwa2 »

Hi,

Just installed 6.0.7960 on Debian, coming from 5. I want to run Madsonic as user instead or as root.

i changed ownership of \var\Madsonic to user:user and everything seems to work oke, including streaming to isub. Except for playback in browser. when i click "play all" nothing happens, also no log entery's (debug)

But when i run the service as root, then i get browser playback.

is this because user is not part of a group? should i have made the var\madsonic folder ownership user:root?

i use Linux for a couple of years now, but permissions still remain a mystery for me :/

does it have to do with the API? Im testing streaming to submariner (osx) and it wont connect to the server: unvalid licence

the serverlogs says:

WARN SubsonicRESTRequestParameterProcessingFilter - REST Authentication failed for user user1
WARN LoginFailureLogger - Login failed for [user1] from [ip.xx.xx.xx]]

does not make sense to me when streaming to Isub (IOS) works fine, but not to other apps/browser

any support?
