Can't activate custom url

I'm a premium user (not trial, regular premium) and wanted to set the custom internet url to reach my Madsonic instance. However, even though I've enabled the "Access your server over the Internet using an easy-to-remember address." option, all I can do is to fill the second available option, meaning custom url. I can't activate the first option in any way and specify my custom madsonic.org name. It says "Web address disabled"! :o Any ideas how to overcome it?

What happens if you enter "yoursitename.madsonic.org" under the custom URL?

I can't even do that - the "yourname" filed is inactive... Same applies to the dot activating the custom url.

in older beta builds this was locked in the interface, please use latest 6.2 build to fix that.

Thank you! However at the moment I can't use newer build as explained in my other post (#1971 - I can't yet paste a link, the forum engine doesn't allow me to do so) - 6.1.8280 is the latest build I'm able to run...

OK, since the issue mentioned in the other post has been resolved and I've managed to run 6.2, I can now confirm I have been able to set my personal url. Thanks for your help!

TYI

if the Madsonic service is stopped, you can edit the /madsonic.properties file.

for custom redirection

Code: Select all
UrlRedirectCustomUrl=http\://localhost\:4040
UrlRedirectionEnabled=false
UrlRedirectType=CUSTOM

or for hosted redirection

Code: Select all
UrlRedirectFrom=<YOURNAME>
UrlRedirectionEnabled=true
UrlRedirectType=NORMAL

or for local only

Code: Select all
UrlRedirectionEnabled=false

I'm having a similar issue at the moment with my TP Link Archer C8 router. I'm using Madsonic 6.2 and for some reason the forwarding either on my router or through the application isn't working. I had to do a restart of my NAS and that gave me fits for a bit but all that forwarding is working as is my Plex account. Madsonic is the only one not working. When I try to connect to my custom Madsonic address I just get the following error:

Status: Could not connect to xxxxxx.madsonic.org. (HttpHostConnectException)

I have tried only using the forwarding from the program as well as forwarding only from the router as well as the combination of the two and nothing is working. Is there a file I could edit?

does it work if you redirect your TCP/UDP port manually through your router?

sound like routing, gateway problems or firewall issues?

It ended up that I had to specifically route the port via my VPN provider and then the forwarding would work properly. Seems odd considering the other ports that were forwarded worked just fine.

I ended up changing routers though. The C8 just always seemed problematic and not very flexible. I ended up with an ASUS AC-87R and it has been spotless! No real issues with Madsonic with that one.
