Music v. Audiobooks

Unread post by cgcarter1 »

I understand how the system identifies Audiobooks (if audiobook is in the path). However, this isn't represented in the presentation layer of the application. It treats audiobooks as music. To be completely honest I am working on an extension and it would be great if the system did not treat audiobooks and music as the same (and treated them more like a subsystem like you have setup for podcasts) - programmatically it is easier to put things together than try to parse items. Also, this will allow you to code against them further like allowing it to remember where you left off in the book etc...etc...

Food for thought...

(My vision) of how it should work. I use the Artist/CD path concept for AudioBooks =>
[Drive]/AudioBooks/Jules Verne/20,000 Leagues Under the Sea...

So in the presentation layer (Artist Index) have it sub-divided
Music
Abba Alice in Chains
etc..etc..

Audiobooks
Jules Verne Michael Crichton

Just my idea how it would work... Food for thought

Audiobooks should definately separated from music. (I would like to have then on a folder basis).

I don't care how, just do it :-)
