Could you please let us know which functions will be limited after expiration of this free trial? I moved from subsonic because I was not able to listen from my android phone after expiring this period... I hope that this won't happen on Madsonic... Thanks a lot for your answer. Best Regards :)
Hi there,

at the moment it's not fixed which features will be offered and which will come later.

In the meantime, this comparison table might help.

Ah I see. Is the Todo-List posted? Or is there an estimate on when it should arrive?

You really have the ball rolling on these releases!

One issue that has thus far gone unaddressed: Failed podcasts.

Right now when there is basically ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY wrong with an RSS feed, then the podcast page really goes to shit. When this happens various functions just do no work, some series can not be expanded/played/removed, and there isn't really any work around for this (sometimes using a client app allows bypassing some of the bugs). Out of everything, I really feel like this feature needs some work making it more reliable.

Thanks for all the hard work!

Hello!

Looking good there Mad..

Have you redone the video playlist that you once mentioned in a prior post to be implemented?
Ability to configure updating the medialist on a more regular basis then once per day? Maybe hourly? every 6 hours? 24?
The ability to pause and resume with a movie you may have closed the webpage (like watching during lunch and not finishing it and coming back later to finish?)
Changing email addresses seems to be broken. It will not save the new email address in 5.2 Betas. I had to DB submit my changes.

I am very intrigued by the "social logon support (facebook)"... does this imply that users will be able to logon with their facebook accounts instead of having to create separate user logins? Any details at all about this? This would be an amazing and very handy feature and I would definitely pay a premium for this!

every app developed for FB login requires the folowing steps :

> register with fb login
> redirection to a FB page with question if app xyz is allowed to use your data, place posts with your name etc ( depends on configuration )
> after hitting ok , your FB login is connected to the app.

so no extra registration process neccessary.
but keep in mind, if you are logged out from FB you are not able to log in with socialmedia-login.
if your system is only driven by this, there may be no way to log in if isp is down.

not to mention zuckerbergs mafia-methods-driven data collection : )

there is no implementation in the alpha at the monent, we will see what comes around

I would like some more detail on the premium features, but I agree with the payments option comment. Probably could do a one-time fee, but I'm not interested in monthly subscriptions.

what i found so far in terms of premium plans you can see as well http://beta.madsonic.org/pages/premium.jsp
kinda open still - but has a tendency to become a deal breaker for me should it really become a monthly payment with the proposed features.
a) i don't really see myself in need of 3/ 10 or 50 server licenses
b) i don't wanna pay for them in order to get the other features (considering also that there are at this point 13 listed and i would pay for 18 at the highest tier)
i can see me paying for a version (like v6) and pay again or more when a new major version comes out.
also - when i pay - i expect a flawless working product and support for stable versions. i wouldn't really consider myself a paying guineapig.
but that might all be in the works already.
the actual pricing would be obviously also a point.
and why not consider also sth like a 'onetime for life' payment option?

cheers, L

I have no problem supporting the software (as I did with Subsonic and I'm a lifetime Plexpass member for my video) but I do draw the line at monthly fees. Madsonic (and Subsonic) already does pretty much everything I want/need.

Plus, you go too crazy with fees and someone will simply fork the open source project and start over.

I don't mind paying a monthly fee if there are reoccurring fees for hosting. I also don't mind paying for maintenance and support. What I don't like is having to pay a monthly fee like other "cloud apps" but not have the app hosted. In my mind if you have an application that runs on someone elses servers then sure a monthly charge makes sense. But I host my subsonic/madsonic servers and don't run anything through the madsonic servers, so why should i pay a monthly fee? now, maintenance and support? sure i will happily buy a year of support or an upgrade fee for a new version. I too have a premium subsonic and lifetime plex pass.

This cannot be stated enough! I absolutely love Madsonic and deal with the bugs present in all versions currently released. But, even the stable releases have bugs/flaws that have never been addressed. No big deal as the open source projects don't dig deeply into the wallet. If you start charging premium prices a more perfect product will be required.

I can't say I pay for any monthly services besides internet and cellphone plans. I'm not really interested in monthly plans either. I use madsonic for lack pushy ads and its good looking templates. But I did buy android app since i felt like it was well done and i wouldn't have to forget about recurring payments. Keep up the good work!
