Direct access to database?

How would I be able to access the Madsonic database directly, to do things like adding a table or field name? Also, how could I manually add an entry into the database (such as a new user, password, access group, privileges, and status)? (Status would be "New", "Active", "Deactivated", and "Banned".)
I have a web guy who can help out with the registration engine, but he needs to know how to access the database directly to do this.
